Economic Empowerment

Welfare and handouts do not sustain long-term economic independence or personal self-esteem and well being! The answer lies in helping individuals provide for themselves. This is done through providing aid only when it is necessary and preparing people to make their own way in life.

NVM is committed to this aim. The Bible gives us guidance as to when assistance is necessary and right. Widows and orphans are in this category. We want to help those who can not help themselves. But for those who are able to find their own way we want to help them prepare for economic independence. This is done primarily by teaching them life skills that are marketable. We want to help them earn a living to support their families and to travel down a better road in live.

The Vision

To see the need for aid reduced as Haitians become responsible for their own solutions to poverty.

The Mission

Through programs and strategies that do not foster an unhealthy dependency on aid, help those without the immediate means to do so for themselves.

Children’s Home

Children’s Home

In the Bible it says that taking care of widows and orphans is religion in it’s purest form. NVM is committed to taking care of children who can not care for themselves. Recently, a new children’s home complex was opened on the NVM compound. There is a home for girls and a home for boys. Over the next few months the number of children being cared for will grow to 48. These young kids will have a safe, secure and loving home. And they will also receive a good education and thorough medical care.

Social Assistance – Disaster Relief

It goes without saying that people living in third world countries are in need. And then when a disaster strikes, the needs are compounded and become immense. This is what has happened in Haiti. In January of 2010 Haiti was hit with a major earthquake and a large number lost their lives. But even more were left with the aftermath and many lost everything. While much progress has been made, a tremendous need still remains. NVM is involved in meeting needs. But we want to do it in a way the helps people maintain dignity and lets them feel like they are part of the solution and not just a problem.
