Morganne’s Gift From The Heart
Hello my name is Morganne Grant, I am nine years old and in the 4th grade. I had an idea that I just wanted to help someone, and that’s when I remembered the kids at NVM, and Wise-Darlene, the child our family sponsors. So, I thought why don’t I do something to help. I was going to buy toys for the kids in Haiti but then I realized toys can break, a story can’t.
I have always loved to read, and it is really fun to get into a good story. My favorite book series is The Boxcar Children because I think it is really fun, adventurous, and awesome. I think that it is important for kids to have books because you get to use your imagination, and when you read something fun you will want to do it again and again and grow to love it.
When I came up with the idea that I wanted to donate books to kids in Haiti, I didn’t know how to raise money. So, first I decided to have a lemonade stand in our front yard and then I did special chores for my parents and grandparents, and ended up saving over $100. My parents promised that they would double whatever I raised, so I just kept saving.
I’m so excited to hear updates on the different books the kids are reading and which ones are their favorites! Reading is fun! I hope you enjoy your new library.
With Love, Morganne Grant
